Our School Values

Tylers Green First School - where children come first.

The children at the heart of the School,

the School at the heart of the Village.

We believe that children should be at the heart of all decision making, and this philosophy underpins the work of the school.

Children take their first steps in the journey of their education at our school.  We recognise the vital importance that partnerships with families and the community play in making this journey successful, and laying the foundation for a life long love of learning.

Our teachers have identified key principles that are important for our School.  We believe our School Community should be:

At Tylers Green First School we will aim to:

  • Provide a safe, happy, welcoming and stimulating learning environment where each child can work to their full potential.
  • Welcome parents, visitors and members of the Village community and offer opportunities for the School to be used as a resource for the local community.
  • Communicate well with our parents and community.
  • Ensure that there are equal opportunities for all and our school celebrates diversity.
  • Prepare our children well for the next step in their educational journey.

British Values at Tylers Green First School

Our School Values, and our School Rules together with our PSHE curriculum ensure that we meet the Department for Education's requirement to promote fundamental British Values in our school.  The document below shows where these fundamental values map to individual lessons in our PSHE programme Jigsaw.

Our School Rules were created by our School Council children in 2020.   These, together with our behaviour policy support the children in our school to understand the fundamentals of behaviour required to work together in a community.

Weekly assemblies focus on the School Values, the School Rules and on British Values to ensure that these are explicitly taught and reinforced through stories, songs, drama and other activities.

Our School Rules:

  • Be kind
  • Be safe
  • Do my best
  • Listen to grown ups
  • Look after our school
