How we use our PE and Sport Premium funding

PE and Sports Premium

All young people should have the opportunity to live healthy and active lives. A positive experience of sport and physical activity at a young age can build a lifetime habit of participation, and we pride ourselves at Tylers Green First School on the opportunities we provide for our children to be active and outdoors.  Our children use our school woodland and our school field extensively to learn and play actively - which is why you will see racks of wellies outside the classrooms!

Physical activity has numerous benefits for children and young people’s physical health, as well as their mental wellbeing (increasing self-esteem and emotional wellbeing and lowering anxiety and depression), and children who are physically active are happier, more resilient and more trusting of their peers. Ensuring that pupils have access to sufficient daily activity can also have wider benefits for pupils and schools, improving behaviour as well as enhancing academic achievement.

The PE and Sport Premium is specific support from the government to enable schools to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE, physical activity and sports.

We use the funding in a variety of ways, including qualified sports coaches  to work with the teachers in Key Stage 1 to deliver high quality PE lessons.  This year we have also introduced Forest School as additional provision.

There are so many ways to be active at our school - we encourage our children to explore and participate to find something they enjoy doing.
