Dear Year 2 Parents and Carers

Our Great Fire of London workshop is now only 2 weeks away and the children are getting very excited! Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to help. We are still short of 2 helpers in the morning session (9.15-11.30) and 1 in the afternoon ( 1.15- 2.45) so if there are any of you who can help please let Mrs Turner know in the office!

Many thanks

Email sent to whole school - 3rd October 2023

From: Office TGFS <Office@tgfs.org.uk>
Sent: 03 October 2023 10:13
Subject: PTA - Christmas Cards, Bake Sale and Bags2School

Dear Parents and Carers

A few dates for your diary over the next couple of weeks:

Christmas Cards - 11th October

We're delighted to say that our Christmas Card shop is now officially open.

The children will all be receiving their blank Christmas Card forms to design in class this week, and we are hoping that all designs will be completed by next Wednesday (11th Oct) for us to send off for proofing.  In a change to last year, the cards will be completed in school, unless you would like it to be taken home. We do have spare, blank forms if needed.

We should then receive the proofs back by mid October, when you will be able to view your children's masterpiece and place your order.  We're advised that you will receive your printed items by mid November.

Year 2 Cake Sale - Friday 13th October

We're kicking off the fundraising this year with our first bake sale. On Friday 13th October our Year 2 Parents and Carers will kindly be providing some delicious cakes and tasty treats for sale in the playground at pick up. As a reminder, we are a nut free school so please consider this with your bakes.

Bags2School - Tuesday 17th October

We will be collecting any unwanted clothes at drop off on the 17th October, with collection bags going out in book bags next week.  Please also bring along any unwanted uniform or fancy dress for our pre-loved shop.

We have a lot of activities planned in the run up to Christmas, including our first family night on the 3rd November. So keep an eye out on our Facebook and Instagram Pages where we'll share more dates and details.

Thank you for your support.

Your PTA Team

Dear Parents and Carers,

Looking forward to seeing you this evening at our annual AGM from 8pm at the Old Queen’s Head, Penn.

You don't need to be an active member of the PTA to attend, just an interest in how you can support your child's experience at our wonderful school.

We will recap last years events and the money raised, discuss the upcoming events planned for this year, and appoint a new committee. We'd love to meet some new faces and have a chat over a glass of something!

27/09/23 - Online safety - information for parents

Email sent 27/09/23 - Whole School

Dear Parents and Carers

I have updated the safeguarding area of our website with a lot of information about online safety in school,  so please do have a look.

https://www.tylersgreenfirst.co.uk/safeguarding-keeping-our-children-safe-from-harm/

I have also created a parent information centre  about online safety where I have put some useful factsheets and links to help you at home:

https://www.tylersgreenfirst.co.uk/our-parent-information-centre/

Something that we have found worries children is seeing content online that may be frightening or meant for older viewers.   Please keep a close eye on YouTube as some people upload videos of programmes like Thomas the Tank engine, but with added content that is not appropriate for children this age.  There are factsheets about YouTube and YouTube Kids in the parent information centre.

Here is a useful link which shows you how to set up parental controls on most major devices:

Thank you for all of your support.

27/09/23 - Updates from Mrs Talbot

Email sent 27/09/23 - Whole School

Dear Parents and Carers

Thank you for bearing with us whilst we have had problems with our email system!  We have been working with our email provider to try and get the issue rectified.  In the meantime we have popped the text of our latest emails from the teachers onto our website.

Mrs Turner has re-sent an email about our Harvest assembly (4th October)  and our collection for the One Can Trust – I hope that you have all received it.

The children have been busy learning harvest songs for us to sing together and there **Might** be a special gift with Mrs Mustoe’s name on it for her to  wear in the assembly if the children bring enough donations for the One Can Trust! (The children in Chestnut are also campaigning for her to wear it all day…….)

Just a reminder that we open the gate at 08.35 in the morning and school starts at 08.40.  I close the front gate at 08.45 and only Little Oaks children are able to come through the wooden gate after this.

This is because the teachers send the registers to the office at 08.45 and any children arriving after this need to be signed in at the office.  Please don’t try and come through the gate with your school children after 08.45 – go straight to the office.

If you have childminders or grandparents regularly dropping off your children please let them know.

Our phonics lessons start at 08.45 and children who are regularly late miss this vital learning – please make every effort to be here on time.

The Year 1 and Year 2 teachers are preparing information packs that we will send home soon, and we are always  busy updating our website – there is a wealth of information about our curriculum on there, so please do take a look.

For those of you who are not aware – we place key dates onto the calendar on our website, so you have advanced notice of things like parents’ evenings and Nativity plays.  It is possible to “Sync” our website calendar with your phone.

Don’t forget the PTA AGM coming up tonight - I have popped details of this on our website too.

Kind regards

25/09/23 Year 1 Science

Dear Parents and Carers of Year 1!

We hope you are all well and your children are enjoying the start of the term so far. We have lots more exciting things planned for them all!

We are emailing you today about an upcoming science lesson we have on Wednesday (27th September). In this lesson the children will be thinking about their sense of taste and investigating their 5 primary tastes: sweet, salty, umami, sour and bitter.

To test this the children will be trying the following foods: runny honey, Walkers ready salted crisps, tomatoes, lemon juice and rocket leaves.

Allergy advice provided on the crisp packet says it may contain: milk, wheat, gluten, barley, soya, celery, mustard.

Please let us know if you have any concerns regarding this, or if would prefer for your child not to taste these foods in this lesson. If you have any further questions, again please do let us know and we are happy to provide further details.

Kind regards,

Miss Walker and Mrs Croucher

25/09/23 Oak Class Bug Club

Dear Oak Class Parents and Carers,

It has come to light that some children have been unable to access Bug Club.

Apologies for this, I had been updating the system and managed to reset passwords for all!

Your child's login details (both username and password) will be sent out in book bags over the next couple of days.  Please do try these and help your child to login.  If you encounter any further difficulties, do let me know and I will try to resolve as soon as possible.

Your children will also be coming home with physical books this week, so again keep an eye out for these too.

Thank you for your continued support!

Kind Regards,

Mrs Croucher

We will recap last years events and the money raised, discuss the upcoming events planned for this year, and appoint a new committee. 14/09/23 Chestnut class bug club

Dear Parents in Chestnut Class

I have now put more books onto your child's Bug Club account of the colour they should be reading and also taking home from the physical book boxes in our corridor. Please encourage your child to change their book whenever they need a new one - if they need to come back into school at home time that is absolutely fine!

Your user names have not changed but I have changed the password to Chestnut2023 as it is then easier for me to access your child's account if needed!

If you need any help or need a reminder of what your child's username is please just come and ask.

Thank you for your support.

Mrs Mustoe
