Our Induction Programme
We have a stay and play session in the first week in July for all new starters. On this day you will be given your individual timings for the induction programme (below), meet the team and find out which class your child will be going into.
We will confirm all the dates in July 2025.
For the first 3 days of term (We anticipate this being 5th, 8th and 9th of September 2025):
Individual visits to the class teacher with your child, to talk to the class teacher and school staff.
You will be given an appointment during one of the first three days.
Next two days of term (We anticipate this being 10th and 11th of September 2025):
Your child will be offered a stay and play session for one morning or afternoon in a small group of 10 children.
Children attend with a parent or caregiver - grandparents and childminders welcomed.
Next two days of term (We anticipate this being 12th and 15th of September 2025):
Your child will attend for the morning with half of the class.
Next day of term (We anticipate this being 16th of September 2025)
Your child will attend for the morning with all of the class.
Next day of term (We anticipate this being 17th of September 2025)
All children will attend full time.
In 2024 all the children were full time by the 17th of September (term started on the 4th of September).
Why do we do this?
Starting school is a huge step - even if your child has been to nursery full time. Suddenly they are one of 30 children in a class and they are being looked after by unfamiliar adults. We have carefully planned our transition programme to support your children's attachment to ensure that the children form secure, safe and caring relationships with the adults in school.
We have found that this approach means that our children transition well into school.
This approach supports our school aims and ethos. We believe that we can only achieve our core purpose if we prioritise children's happiness and wellbeing.
