Oak Class (Yr1) - Mrs Moses & Mrs Busler

Welcome to our new class page.

  Information about our Class:


We have two teachers. Mrs Moses teaches us on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Mrs Busler teaches us on Wednesday afternoon, Thursdays and Fridays. Our Teaching Assistants are Mrs Walker, Mrs Coppins, Mrs Weavers and Mrs Raszpla.  PPA time is supported by Mrs Croucher and Mrs Hilliyer.




Topics for the Summer Term


Reminder   Come dressed as a pirate on Monday 17th  July


 Our topic title is "Our Wonderful World". In our Science topics we will be growing plants and seeds and also learning about the wide and varied animals we find in our world. This topic will be made more exciting and real by our trip to Whipsnade safari park on Monday 26th June.


In our History and Geography topics we are starting with learning about our sources of water in the world and how rivers develop and grow. This topic will move onto looking at looking at going to the seaside and how seaside holidays have changed over the times.


Our Literacy Lessons this term will focus on Fantasy Worlds, Information Texts about Water animals, poems based on a watery theme and Recounts.


In our Maths lessons we are learning about Multiplication and Division this half term and after the half term break we will be recapping Fractions, Missing numbers, Time, Money and Capacity.


In our PE lessons we are learning how to twist and turn in our gymnastics lessons. We are also learning how to perform the Flying Scotsman ready for our Country Dancing on Wednesday 7th June.


Our RE will move from the New Testament stories to those of the Old Testament and Creation Stories.


Our PSHE lessons will think about how we have grown in Year 1, what we have achieved and what we are looking forward to doing next year in Year 2.


The last week of this half term is our "One World Week"- this year Oak class will be learning about Australia. We have lots of exciting things planned to learn about this fantastic country such as making Australian animals, the coral reef, landscapes and aboriginal culture.


As you can see we have a busy Summer Term ahead!!!


Key Dates for this term-


22nd May- One World Week.

Wednesday 7th June- Country Dancing (pm)

Thursday 22nd June- Class Assembly 10am.

Monday 26th June- Whipsnade safari trip.

Friday 30th June- Sports Day (am)

Friday 21st July- End of Term.





Please practice phonics (from booklets) and spellings as often as possible. 

Reading books can be changed daily - please let us know if your child is not bringing new books home.

Library books can be changed on a Wednesday.

PE is on a Wednesday and Thursday.

New spellings will be given out each Friday.


Pleases make sure all clothing, especially PE clothing, is labelled with names. This really does help us.
